About

Sometimes, melodies float in the air like pollen. If one listens closely, they can catch and wove them into songs. Julius Krebs has been collecting such melodies since his youth, and now he´s beginning to present them to the world. Starting in 2020, he recorded his debut album “Flowerbeds” in the basement of his parents´ house in Munich. The result is a sound that easily grows on you: Progressing in waves, summerly vibes driven by bass and drums alternate with purist instrumentation. The score composer (“The color of yearning”) and singer of The Tonecooks combines strikingly colourful fingerstyle guitars with smooth vocals to express his thoughts and feelings intimately, yet decently. His first release from the album is the upcoming single “Sail Away”. Summery vibes alternate with melancholy as the lyrics propose a change of scene for a remedy against getting lost in one’s head. Despite such thoughtful lyrics, the song creates a light feeling full of nautical nuances and sunny harmonies. Inspired by the likes of Nick Drake, Jack Johnson or Elliot Smith, Julius takes us on a journey through a musical world full of beauty and warmth and creates an outstandingly honest experience that captures a unique feeling somewhere between comfort and melancholy.
